I'm sure you've all heard about the Pepsi Refresh Project where you can vote for your favorite projects or ideas to receive $50,000 in funding. Well, my adorable nephew and niece were both born with a rare metabolic condition called Phenylketonuria (PKU) which you can read all about here. It's a disorder that is managed through a special diet including very pricey formula and foods.
I have added a widget to my blog over there on the top to the right and would love it if you could vote for money to research and hopefully cure this condition. Right now, it's sitting at #15 and we need to get it all the way up to #1!
Here is the description from the website:
"Fund Research and Find A Cure for PKU" will provide funds for research in effort to find a cure for PKU, and improve the quality of life for all children and adults living with PKU. The grant will go to The National PKU Alliance (NPKUA), a non-profit organization. NPKUA is devoted to advance research in an effort to find a treatment or hopefully a cure. It supports local PKU organizations, educates others on the issues PKU patients and families face, and advocates for individuals living with PKU. The month of May is National PKU Awareness month, but why stop at one month. What better way to support PKU all year round by voting for this project!
We would all be eternally grateful if you would take a couple of minutes out of your day to vote! The voting ends on August 31st. That's a great day, too, because it is my niece's 1st birthday. What an amazing gift it would be if the $50,000 went to help fund research on PKU! Please vote! You can vote for 10 different causes everyday so take a look around the site and see if there are any projects that are close to your heart. Thank you!
