Yoplait Greek Yogurt {REVIEW}

Yoplait just recently debuted their version of Greek yogurt!  Yoplait Greek is packed with 12 grams of protein and 0 grams of fat, so you get the nutrients while watching your fat intake.  It comes in four delicious flavors; Strawberry, Blueberry, Honey Vanilla and Plain and has a thick and creamy texture with both vitamins A & D in every cup.  Yoplait Greek retails for $1.19 per 6 oz. cup, which is very reasonable compared to other Greek yogurts.  If you head over to the Yoplait Greek website, there is a coupon, too!

I received all four flavors of Yoplait Greek to review.  I was very impressed by the flavor and texture of the Yoplait Greek yogurt!  Other Greek yogurts that I have tried have had a grainy texture which I cannot tolerate.  Yoplait Greek had a smooth and creamy texture and the flavors were yummy!  My favorite was strawberry and I really liked that they were not overly sweet.  My husband used Plain in a smoothie and loved it!  He combined some vanilla soy milk, frozen blueberries, frozen peaches and Yoplait Greek Plain yogurt.  He was thrilled that there was extra protein which he claimed kept him full until lunchtime!

All in all, I loved Yoplait Greek yogurt!  This will be added to my regular rotation of yogurts that I purchase.  My husband already asked me to go buy some to have in the fridge!

Disclosure:  I was not paid for this review.  I received samples of the products in exchange for my honest opinion.

Back from Napa!

We had a wonderful weekend in Napa!  Thanks to our friends who have a timeshare, we were able to stay in the city of Napa for four nights and enjoy three days of fun in the Bay area.  We visited beautiful wineries and tasted delicious wine.  The first winery we went to was Castello di Amorosa.  Isn't it awesome?

It is a castle that took 15 years and $37 million to build!  We took the tour and tasted wines that were very good.  Definitely worth visiting!

We visited a couple more wineries that day, but none were as breathtaking as the castle.

Day 2 we went into San Francisco for the day.  We walked on Fisherman's Wharf and sampled chocolate at Ghirardelli's.  The weather was beautiful and we had a great day!

The last day was not as good weather but we were able to find wonderful wines that we brought home with us from Jacuzzi Winery.

I'm happy to be back home and sleeping in my bed, but I can't wait to go back and explore more vineyards!

truvia - Nature's Calorie-Free Sweetener {REVIEW & GIVEAWAY} (Closed)

Being an owner of a fitness center, I am very conscious of what I put into my body.  Way back before I met my husband I decided I was going to change my eating habits so that I had more energy.  After doing much research on different eating plans, I decided to start following the Zone Diet and it worked!  I had so much more energy and even lost weight.  It was on a message board related to the Zone that I found out about the stevia plant which is a natural plant used to sweeten foods without adding calories.  I was never very fond of using Stevia in my cooking and baking because it was so concentrated and I could never figure out the correct conversion with sugar.  Over the past 10 years, more and more people have begun to use stevia and recipes are now widely available.

When I was approached by truvia to review their calorie-free sweetener that is made from the stevia plant, I took the opportunity right away!  You can learn about how truvia is made by going to their website and reading about the process.  They basically steep the plant, sort of like tea, then purify it and make it into a powder that you and I can use in our coffee!

I love to bake and my hubby loves to eat however neither of us have fast metabolisms so we have to be very careful not to overeat baked goods.  I instantly started looking up recipes, in fact truvia has recipes on their website that were created by "celebrity chef" Marisa Churchill.  Check them out here.  I was impressed with the variety of recipes from cheesecake to chocolate chip cookies.  I decided to make Raspberry Oatmeal Bars and Chocolate Chip Cookies with the box of truvia that I received.

They were both very tasty!  I have tried to bake with artificial sweeteners in the past and they end up creating a strange texture and bad aftertaste.  I was pleasantly surprised when the food had very similar texture to recipes that use sugar with no chemical aftertaste at all!  My family is still enjoying them!

How you can buy it:

truvia is available at Whole Foods, Walmart and most major supermarkets.  Click here to find your closest retailer!

How you can win it:

truvia has offered to give five (5) of my lucky readers a prize pack including a canvas tote, gardening gloves and a 40 count box of truvia!

Enviro-Log {REVIEW}

Lately, I have been trying to make more of an effort to "green" up my life.  When I was approached by Enviro-Log to review the 5 lbs. firelog, I was excited to see what a recycled firelog would be like!  While I love to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful starlit sky, I get cold very easily so the fact that the folks at Enviro-Log claims it burns 50% hotter than wood with 30% less emissions really appealed to me.  Being a city girl, I've never enjoyed the smell of a wood burning fire.  It gets into my clothes and hair and takes forever for the smell to go away which I hate!  I was very curious to see if all the claims that Enviro-Log made about their products were actually true.

Here are some of the features that are listed on the Enviro-Log website:
  • Enviro-Log Firelogs are distinctive for their wide variety of applications and performance features. Because they are made from food-grade waxed old corrugated containers (WOCC), our firelogs can be used for cooking, as well as for heating and recreational purposes.
  • Enviro-Log Firelogs are compatible with all wood-burning appliances and can be used to enhance a wood-burning fire. Our firelogs generate more energy per pound than wood or other firelog brands.
  • Enviro-Log Firelogs are easier to light, burn hotter with larger, smokeless flames, and do not melt, drip, or spark because there is no added petroleum-based binder. They can be stacked and stored outdoors similar to wood and are more weather-resistant than other firelog brands.
There is also a chart that compares the Enviro-Log to sawdust and wax-based firelogs as well as real firewood.  It is located here

Well, I am happy to report that the Enviro-Log lived up to my expectations!  We took it over to a friend's house and burned one on the deck in his firepit.  It was definitely hotter than normal firewood and I loved the fact that there was not nearly as much odor!  In fact, it smelled like burning candles and didn't make my eyes burn at all.  I would have felt perfectly comfortable cooking over the fire, too, because there was no chemical odor as with other manufactured logs.  Unfortunately, it started to rain about 45 minutes after we lit it, so I don't know if it would burn for three hours, but I can tell you that after burning for 45 minutes there was still a lot of the log left.

Here are a few pictures of what the flame looked like while it was burning.  Since I was with two men, directions were not followed very closely (use the bag as kindling!).  I think if we had followed the directions and used the outer bag as kindling, the fire would have burned more evenly from the middle.

All in all, I am very happy with the Enviro-Log!  I will definitely put this in my arsenal of products to purchase!  The Enviro-Log is found at stores nationwide such as The Home Depot, K-Mart, Whole Foods, etc.  You can find a listing here.  You can even purchase them online!  The 4pk. of 5 lbs. logs sells for $21.99 which includes shipping.  Go get some today!

Disclosure:  I was sent two sample logs from Enviro-Log to review.  I was not compensated in any other way for my honest opinions.

CertainDri Solid Antiperspirant {REVIEW & GIVEAWAY} (CLOSED)

This giveaway is closed! The winner will be announced on Saturday.
There are millions of people who suffer from excessive perspiration or axillary hyperhydrosis (I own a fitness center, believe me on this one!).  If you are one of the millions who suffer from embarrassing excessive persipiration, there's good news!  CertainDri has products available to keep the wetness at bay including a new solid antiperspirant.  It was created for those who are looking for the same protection as the original roll-on in a solid form.  It is also the only over-the-counter antiperspirant that has 25% aluminum sesquichlorohydrate which is more effective than aluminum zirconium that is found in the "clinical strength" products.  Since CertainDri is water-based, there is no need for a doctor's prescription!  The best part, in my opinion, is that you apply it sparingly at night before going to bed and it won't wash off in the shower.  You can than apply the CertainDri A.M. Underarm Refresher in the morning if you need some extra odor protection, but it's not necessary.

I was sent one package of CertainDri Solid Antiperspirant and asked my husband to use the product because he tends to sweat more than I do.  He's an assistant golf professional who gives a lot of lessons outside and tends to get overheated in the sunshine.  Granted, we live in Oregon and it's March so the sun is not showing it's face too often but we have been blessed recently with a string of warm weather.  Hubby used the product and has been very happy with the results!  He loves that he only has to put it on at night and has noticed a marked decrease in underarm sweat.  He spent the last week running the junior golf camp at his golf club (40 kids ranging in age between 8 and 15!) and happily reported that CertainDri really works!

How you can buy it:

You can buy CertainDri at most major retailers including Target and Walmart for $5.50 suggested retail price.  You can also purchase CertainDri online right here for $5.95.

How you can win it:

CertainDri has offered to give one of my lucky readers their own CertainDri Solid Antiperspirant!

Mandatory Entry:

Head over to CertainDri and tell me one of their "No-Sweat Fashion Tips".  Leave a comment below and make sure that you either leave a valid email address in the comment or that your email address is visible in your profile.

Optional entries (make sure to comment separately for each entry):

3 entries - Become a follower of my blog through Google Friend Connect.
3 entries - Grab my button and post it on your blog.  Post your blog address so I can go see it!

Softlips® Pure {REVIEW & GIVEAWAY}

This giveaway has ended.  Congratulations to #100 - Jaime!

Softlips has created a new line of lip conditioner that is 100% natural and 95% organic! Since all of the information has started to surface about chemicals and harsh ingredients that are added to health and beauty products, I have been very conscious about what I use on my body.  I am so happy to know about this new Pure line from Softlips! There are 5 flavors in the line; Acai Berry, Papaya, Pomegranate, Peppermint and Chai Tea.  This line is also USDA-certified organic and are formulated utilizing only all-natural emollients and conditioners, including organic oils, beeswax, shea butter and vitamin E.  There are no synthetic chemicals or harmful ingredients like parabens and pesticides.  They are also gluten free!  Softlips also offers a line of lip balms that are made with SPF 20 and has recently launched new limited edition Winter flavors of Sugar & Spice, Berry, Winter Mint and Sugar Cookie.  I have personally tried these Winter flavors and love them all!

I was sent a set of the new PURE flavors to try for myself.  I have always been a fan of Softlips and love how conditioned and supple my lips feel after wearing Softlips for a few hours.  One of my favorite tips is to put it on before you go to bed at night and when you wake up, your lips will feel so conditioned.  I struggle with chapped lips because I live in Oregon where it is cold and rainy in the winter which tends to make my skin dry and my lips even drier!.  For the past week, I have been using the Pure lip conditioners and have been so happy with my soft and conditioned lips!  If I had to pick a favorite flavor, it would be Chai Tea, but the other flavors are very pleasant.

Would you like to try this new line of pure and natural lip conditioner from Softlips?  Well, you can!

How to buy them:

Softlips can be purchased in all major supermarkets, mass retailers and drug stores for the suggested retail price of  just $2.79 for one 0.07-oz stick or $3.99 for a value pack of two sticks.  The new Pure flavors can be found in the natural section of selected Target stores for the suggested retail price of $2.99.

How to win!

Softlips has offered to give a set of the Pure flavors to one lucky reader of Giveaways and More!

Mandatory entry (1 entry):

Follow my blog publicly and let me know which flavor you think you would like best! (Make sure that your email address is visible either in your comment or your profile.)

EXPO Washable Dry Erase Markers {REVIEW & GIVEAWAY} (2 WINNERS)

White boards are so much fun!  They remind me of an adult Etch A Sketch because you can make mistakes, erase them and not have any trace of the mistake.  They are also much cleaner than a chalkboard and even more so now.  I was so excited when I was approached by EXPO to review their new washable dry erase markers!  My DH and I own a fitness center and use white boards for many different things such as our group exercise schedule which can change at a moment's notice.  It's also better for the environment to use a white board than to print out a whole new schedule on paper if there is a slight change.

I was sent a package of the new EXPO Washable Markers which come in six different colors; orange, green, blue, pink, yellow and purple.  When I wrote on the white board, the colors were very true and bright!  They are also fine tip so writing with them was very easy.  Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me when I used them at the fitness center to show you the color of the ink on the board.

These markers are nontoxic and low odor.  They have a slight odor to them but not nearly as bad as other dry erase markers I have used.  I don't know about you, but those fumes can give me quite a headache so these markers were very nice.

Now, I know you are asking yourself this question; are they washable, really?  I was a little skeptical at first and hesitant when I wrote on my hand.  This won't look too professional at work tomorrow if it doesn't wash off!

I was pleasantly surprised, however, when I went to wash my hands and didn't even have to use soap!  Just using water worked beautifully!

See!  Clean hand!  The packaging also says that it comes out of most washable fabrics, car upholstery and carpet.  That's great if you have young children.  I know when I was a toddler, I loved to write on everything!  It drove my mother absolutely batty!

How to buy:

Go to any store that sells EXPO products and buy them!

How to win:

Thanks to the wonderful people at EXPO Markers two of my readers will receive a set of these washable dry erase markers!

Mandatory entry (1 entry):

Become a public follower of my blog and leave me a comment letting me know you did or if you already follow my blog, let me know that, too!  (Make sure that your email address is visible either in your comment or your profile.)

What's for dinner?

Sundays at our house usually consist of lots of preparing and cooking because the extended family gets together to relax, get ready for the coming week and eat!  This week, however, we decided to take it easy and make a crock pot meal.  I can't tell you how much I love cooking in a crock pot.  It's so nice not to slave over a hot stove all day.  A little bit of prep and the meal is ready to eat when you are!

We decided on this Crock Pot Vegetarian Lasagna which we made a few months ago and loved!  I have to let you know that we didn't follow the recipe exactly this time around.  The first time we tried it, we followed the recipe to the letter and it was delicious!  This time, we had some spaghetti sauce we canned last fall that needed to be used so we made an executive decision to deviate from the original recipe.  The sauce had meat in it, too, so it was not vegetarian but was still very good!

This recipe says it serves 6 people, but these must be hungry people because we served 6 adults and had leftovers for 2 days!  It is much thicker than a lasagna made in a 9x13 baking dish so the servings can be smaller.

We also had a green salad with a vinaigrette and garlic bread.  It was a very filling and fairly healthy meal!

What did you have for dinner?  Do you usually prepare a big meal one day of the week when the whole family can sit down together?

Yoplait® Light {REVIEW}

Yoplait® Light is my favorite brand of yogurt for many reasons.  The first and best reason is that it is only 100 calories!  Those feelings of guilt are gone immediately because of the fact that there is no fat and only 100 calories per serving.  I love the variety of flavors that are offered such as Boston Cream Pie, Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Strawberry Shortcake.  I also enjoy the Yoplait® Light Thick & Creamy line which features Cherry Cobbler (my favorite!), Cinnamon Roll and Key Lime Pie.  The most amazing and wonderful thing about Yoplait® yogurt is that it really tastes like the flavors!

I had the good fortune to receive some samples of the newest Yoplait® Light flavor, Red Velvet Cake, and the new Yoplait® Light Thick & Creamy flavor, Blueberry Pie.  This is so exciting to me because of my ongoing love affair with Yoplait® Light!

I first tried the Yoplait® Light Thick & Creamy Blueberry Pie.  It was very good!  The flavor of blueberries was as close to reality as you can get and there was an extra sweetness to the yogurt that made it taste like Blueberry Pie.  I’m not sure if it is a flavor that I will purchase regularly, but it was definitely up to Yoplait® standards.  The yogurt was creamy and flavorful without any aftertaste that would normally accompany artificial sweeteners.

My husband would have killed me if I didn’t wait for him to get home to try the Yoplait® Light Red Velvet Cake!  He is a huge fan of red velvet cake (who am I kidding?  He’s a fan of cake in general but red velvet seems to be his current favorite).  We both agreed that the yogurt tasted almost identical to an actual piece of red velvet cake without all the extra calories!  Once again, there was no aftertaste and it really satisfied my after dinner sweets cravings.  This is a flavor that I will definitely add to my regular rotation of favorites.

The next time you are in the grocery store shopping for yogurt, look for these two new flavors of Yoplait® Light.  They will not disappoint!

Disclosure: I was not paid for this review.  I was sent two flavors of yogurt and asked to give my honest opinions.  These opinions are my own.

Stay safe this St.Patty's Day!

Please take a moment to read this important information from Global Influences about the dangers of buzzed driving.  We all like to celebrate every now and again and St. Patrick's Day is coming up this week (wow this year is flying by!).  Please help us to spread the word that buzzed driving is just as dangerous as drunk driving and designating a sober driver this St. Patrick's Day could mean saving someone's life.  I hope everyone has a fun-filled and safe St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner, and it's not the luck of the Irish that will keep the roads safe - it's planning now for a safe and sober way home.

Are you headed out with friends after work this Wednesday to celebrate the holiday?  No?  Well when you and your family are on the road headed to choir practice, a t-ball game, or coming home from school, you may be sharing the road with those returning from a fun St. Patrick's Day event.  It's time to spread the word about the dangers of buzzed driving and to remind people that Buzzed Driving IS Drunk Driving, and the best way to stay safe is to plan ahead.

Let's remind everyone about the importance of remembering to:
  • Designate a sober driver before you leave for your event.
  • Be ready to take alternate transportation such as a bus or taxi. Have the phone number of a  taxi service stored in your phone before you leave for the party.
Even if you will not be celebrating this St. Patrick's Day, keep in mind that in 2008, 1,179 people in other vehicles were killed in crashes involving alcohol-impaired drivers.  And for those who don't plan on over-indulging, a buzzed driving crash looks the same as a drunk driving crash.

Global Influence is working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Ad Council as they continue their efforts with the "Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving" PSA campaign. Buzzed drivers drink and drive, but do not consider themselves a hazard on the roadway because they have had "only a few" drinks. The campaign hopes to educate people that consuming even a few drinks can impair driving and that "Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving."

We need your help in keeping the roads safe for everyone this St. Patrick's Day by spreading the word that buzzed driving IS drunk driving.

To learn more about the impact buzzed driving can have on a life, please watch this important video about the financial and personal repercussions of getting a DUI: http://buzzeddriving.adcouncil.org/sign.php#video

Remember: Buzzed Driving IS Drunk Driving. Plan ahead and ask your loved ones to do the same.

Friday Fun - Fill in the Blanks!

This looks like fun and a great way to get to know each other!  Just fill in the blanks and go back to this post to get your link in the McLinky.  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

1. The best day ever was my wedding day.  We had all of our family and close friends gather around us while we committed to spending the rest of our lives together.  It was an awesome day!

2. My favorite meal of the day is breakfast because I love breakfast foods!  Bacon, pancakes, waffles, french toast, eggs, muffins, scones...hmm, I'm really making my self hungry!

3. This weekend will be relaxing, hopefully! We are going to a wine class with some close friends.

4. Never in my life have I hit someone.  I've been tempted, but never followed through and I hope I never have to.

5. The only thing better than owning a business is not owning a business.  Sometimes it's a struggle to be the one in charge who has to worry about paying the bills and staying open.  There's something to be said about just being an employee somedays.

6. I could really do with some vacation time and time alone with my hubby!

7. The most recent thing I bought myself was Powerball tickets!  200 million, here I come!
